Irish Guitar Quartet

Excellent communicators both musically and verbally, the IGQ especially enjoy sharing music with school audiences – outlining the stories behind the repertoire and illustrating the techniques used to portray them.

Join the IGQ as they hunt for Opals in Australia, take shelter from a storm in a Cuban Landscape, and dance the Habanera in Spain – all conveyed through the magic of the guitar.

There will be a special focus on famous tunes from Bizet’s opera Carmen – the instrumental suite arranged for four guitars.

This fun and interactive program is geared for students of all ages. Through participation in an ensemble exercise, the students will learn about teamwork, cooperation and what it takes to be part of a successful group. Questions about the instruments, the music and the performers are encouraged throughout the 40-50min session.
