Cork-born visual artist Siobhán Rea has been making a 10cm square drawing daily at 08:30am since 1997 and they are uploaded daily to her Instagram page 0830ritual. Recently, Siobhán undertook a collaboration with Cork writer Danielle McLaughlin where Danielle wrote a novella in response to the 08:30 ritual drawings for January-March 2023. Siobhán in turn responded to the novella by way of a number of larger art works in a variety of media. Against the backdrop of the exhibited art, join Siobhán and Danielle as they discuss their collaboration and the work it produced. They will be in conversation with Kate Barry.

The exhibition, Ritual, takes place in the Mizen room of the Maritime Hotel from Saturday 13 to Friday 19 July.

Admission: Free but ticketed

SOLD OUT

When making her daily drawing Siobhán uses whatever materials are to hand and records some aspect of her immediate environment. The drawings capture, sometimes incidentally and sometimes consciously, both personal identity and the wider socio-political context. The drawings are uploaded daily to her Instagram page 0830ritual https://www.instagram.com/0830ritual/
