74. Late Great Show

No apologies for the viola bias this evening. Brahms had always been obsessed with the rich, dark mezzo voice of the viola and when he came to write those miraculous late works for the clarinet, he took great care to create alternative parts for the viola. Given that so many composers played the viola, it has always been surprising that it took so long for the viola to get its own repertoire.
