46. Main Evening Concert

Doric Quartet continue their exploration of Bartók’s quartets, now presenting the very short but intense Third Quartet. Brett Dean’s Hidden Agendas is a co-commission with Musica Viva Australia, Edinburgh Festival, Konzerthaus Berlin, Carnegie Hall and String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam. The composer will be here for his Irish Premiere; he wrote the work specifically for the Doric Quartet, like this Festival he is a big fan of their playing. To conclude Alasdair Beatson joins the Quartet for Elgar’s post-war Quintet.
