Winners of the Dublin International Piano Competition become honorary Irish citizens and are welcomed with open arms by Irish audiences, so these two young musicians showcase the best of Irish musicianship. Richard Strauss’ youthful Violin Sonata is renowned for its romantic slow movement, composed in the first flush of his love for the young singer, Pauline de Ahna. Enescu was a musician of genius, pianist, violinist, conductor and composer as well as a man of great humility and generosity. His many talents meant he left fewer compositions for posterity than we might wish. His Third Violin Sonata is one of the greatest and a tough challenge for the musicians, but universally loved by audiences.
Admission: €30/€20/€10
Please note there is a change in repertoire from the printed brochure. Janacek will be performed instead of Enescu.
