Chiaroscuro Quartet’s short stay concludes with the last of Beethoven’s six early Quartets, known as La Malinconia after its extraordinary Finale, where a dramatic and melancholic introduction is contrasted with a dementedly cheerful Allegretto. This is paired with Mozart’s secretive E flat Quartet, the one that best reflects his mercurial temperament with music whose ceaseless probing of artistic boundaries seems to belong to a later time.
|Mozart||Quartet in E flat K.428|
|Beethoven||Quartet No.6 in B flat Op.18/6|
