This short piece starts with a brief introduction of
an eerie atmosphere followed by a contrapuntal Allegro section, driven by an
accompaniment of percussive quavers. There are lots of interesting
effects offering good value in accustoming young students to contemporary
compositional characteristics and modern instrumental techniques such as dissonant
harmonies, accenti, long glissando effects, con legno and taping the
instruments with the bow.
