This workshop will run from Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 July, from 9.30am to 2.30pm each day with two breaks built into the day.

Join author and journalist Katie Goh for a three-day creative non-fiction writing workshop. Maybe you have lots of ideas for essays but no idea how to start, or you’ve been thinking about a non-fiction book idea for years but struggling to get words down. This workshop will help get your non-fiction writing project going. Each day will include a different talk and discussion on genre, structure and voice, alongside writing exercises with prompts. The workshop will also include information on next steps for publishing or developing non-fiction book proposals with an opportunity to ask questions.

Max: 15 participants

Admission: €245 for 3 days

This workshop is most suitable for emerging writers who are working towards their first book of non-fiction and have some publishing experience, whether that’s journalism articles or creative essays. However, new writers who would like to begin writing non-fiction are welcome to attend. Please note this workshop will be focused on creative or narrative non-fiction, so not straight history books, cookbooks or self-help. Examples of authors we may be reading during the workshop include Saidiya Hartman, Brian Dillon, Doireann Ní Ghríofa and Robin Wall Kimmerer.

Participants can submit up to 1000 words from a current work in progress or one of the writing exercises we do during the workshop on day two, to get feedback from Katie on day three. This doesn’t need to be submitted before the workshop begins.

Please bring a writing device (pen and paper or a laptop) to the workshop.
