Tiago Matias, originally from Aveiro (Portugal), studied at the Aveiro Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory and the Lisbon School of Music, graduating in guitar in 2005.
A specialist in historical plucked instruments, he founded the early music ensemble Noa Noa in 2012.
His solo discography includes

Fantasia (2024)—the first album entirely devoted to contemporary music for solo theorbo—
Cordovil (2024), and
Sombras (2025).
In 2025–2026 he undertakes his first solo world tour (26 concerts in 12 countries). He is currently a researcher and PhD candidate at the University of Coimbra.
