Follow a vibrant culture trail across Bantry to find events and performances that weave in music, literature, conversation and song on Culture Night 2025. The trail takes in a reading by novelist Anya Bergman at Bantry Library, community music-making at the Bridge Street Community Café, and performances from the young musicians at Curious Keys Music School as well as chats as gaeilge, filling the town with creative energy.

The night will end with two concert sets by the Olympia Quartet & Daithi Shanahan that showcase classical and traditional music influences and celebrate the spirit of West Cork Music's iconic summer festivals.

Find your way to our evening concerts by following a Culture Night trail of early evening events that celebrate music and literature across our harbour town.
 

Anya Bergman – Reading from and in conversation about her novel The Tarot Reader of Versailles

Coordinators: West Cork Literary Festival (West Cork Music) in association with Bantry Library

Join historical novelist Anya Bergman in Bantry Library to hear her read from and discuss her captivating novel, The Tarot Reader of Versailles, which is set against the backdrop of revolutions in France and Ireland in 1798. Anya, who is based on the West Cork/Kerry border, also writes popular historical fiction as Noelle Harrison. She will share insights into her intriguing writing process and explore the different challenges involved in writing commercial and literary fiction.

Curious Keys Turns 5! Open Evening on Culture Night

To mark five years of music, magic, and community, Curious Keys is throwing open its music school doors on Culture Night – and you’re invited!

  • Enjoy live performances by the wonderful students
  • Try out a variety of instruments
  • Chat with Curious Keys’ friendly teachers
  • Discover the joy of learning music, whether you’re 5 or 95

Whether you’re curious about keys, strings, beats or voice, come celebrate with us – young and old, beginner or bold!

Pop-Up Gaeltacht @ Ma Murphy’s

Venue: Ma Murphy’s Pub | Time: 5:15-6pm
Join us for a Pop-Up Gaeltacht to practise whatever level of Irish you have. You’re sure to gain a few extra words and confidence and pick up the natural rhythms of everyday conversation as Gaeilge. The event will feature cómhrá agus craic, and scúps if you’re keen to keep talking!
