45. Young Musicians Series
Meliora Quartet members are Kate Ní Shé, Cillian O Cathasaigh, Kseniia Yershova and Oscar Casey. Like many young Quartets they have chosen to play Janacek, one of the great opera composers of the Twentieth Century, who in his seventies composed two operatically dramatic string quartets. They both tell vivid stories made even more vivid by the stories he told about them. His 1st Quartet is called the Kreutzer Sonata after Tolstoy's novella that in turn tells the violent story of a wife murdered out of unfounded jealousy. Rory Murphy's nonsense is one of the winning quartets from the Festival's Composition Competition. Meliora finish up with Beethoven's 8th Quartet.

Admission: €7
