Originally from Dublin but on long-term loan to West Cork, Aileen Kingerlee has been practicing Yoga since her twenties, completing her teacher training in 2006. She is an Iyengar yoga teacher and has spent several years in India deepening her asana practice and philosophy of Yoga. BKS Iyengar is considered one of the innovators of Yoga and all Iyengar teachers are put through a intense and enlightening teacher training that spans over six years for their introductory certification. Aileen is presently an intermediary 3 teacher practicing for her Senior examination.

Aileen was born with scoliosis, a curvature of the spine, from a young age she spent many years in and out of Orthopeditic surgeons. It was decided not to operate on the spine but Aileen had permanent back discomfort and pain. This is what led her initially to pilates and then to Yoga. Finding the Iyengar tradition with its attention to detail in alignment and highly trained teachers started her love with Yoga. What stated from a physical need has led to a whole practice, encompassing the body mind and spirit.

The class will last 1 hour 15 minutes and will be suitable for all levels of yoga experience. The minimum age will be 15. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat with you. This is a drop-in yoga class so just turn up and pay the teacher on the day.

We do have a back-up plan if the weather isn’t very nice so please check our social media the day before for weather updates.
