Genres: Non-Fiction | Professional Development | Travel

Tim Hannigan is an experienced travel and history writer. He began his professional writing career as a travel journalist and guidebook writer in Southeast Asia, before publishing his first full-length narrative history book in 2011. His recent books include the critically acclaimed The Travel Writing Tribe, which flips the travel genre on its head with a journey to interview some of its most famous practitioners, and The Granite Kingdom, which was shortlisted for the Edward Stanford Travel Book of the Year Award. Tim was born and brought up in the far west of Cornwall but now lives in the west of Ireland. He has a PhD from the University of Leicester for a critical-creative investigation of ethical issues in contemporary travel literature, and he teaches writing and literature at the Atlantic Technological University in Sligo. His next book, The Pathless Land, is an account of a 650-kilometre walk from the Dingle Peninsula to Co. Down and an exploration of the complex history of countryside access in Ireland. It will be published by Head of Zeus in September 2026
