After completing her studies at the School of Violin Making in Cremona in 2011, Venice born Melina Polizzi worked as an assistant for Gregg Alf before moving to London in 2016 to work at Florian Leonhard Fine Violins. In 2017 she became Head of the Making Department there, which specialises in producing close copies of fine antique instruments, which are highly sought after by top-level soloists, orchestra musicians and collectors.

Her reputation for excellence and attention to detail has led to her being invited onto the  jury of the VSA International Violin Making Competition in 2024 and the Guadagnini competition in Piacenza in 2026.
