John FitzGerald

John FitzGerald was born in Cork in 1962. He has lived in Dublin, London and Florence. He won the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award in 2014 and his pamphlet First Cut was published in 2017 by Southword Editions. The Time Being was published by The Gallery Press in 2021 and was shortlisted for The Seamus Heaney First Collection Poetry Prize. The Gallery Press published his translation of The Lament for Art O’Leary in 2023 and his second collection, Long Distance, in April 2024. From 1995-2022 he worked as the University Librarian at University College Cork where he is currently an Adjunct Professor in the School of English. He lives with his family in Carrigdarrery, County Cork.
