Nuala Kennedy is one of Ireland’s most beloved traditional performers. She is an award-winning singer, flute player, composer, and producer. Touring widely in Europe and North America, Nuala is currently singing with Irish-American supergroup Solas.
Hydra her latest release with Eamon O’ Leary was featured as ‘Album of the Month’ in The Guardian newspaper who described their music as ‘bracingly beautiful’.
Kennedy’s roots are in Irish music, however she is also ‘something of a genre bender’ according to Living Tradition Magazine. She has toured and recorded with diverse artists including Will Oldham, Norman Blake and Janis Ian.
Now living in Ennis, County Clare, Kennedy is noted for her songs and a unique Irish flute style, formed in Dundalk and honed in her long time home in Scotland. She enjoys researching and collecting traditional songs and greatly admires the music of her friend and fellow flute player and singer Cathal McConnell.
