Clara Izambert

Clara Izambert was born into a family of musicians and begins studying piano and harp at the age of eight. At a very young age, she was discovered by internationally renowned harpist Marielle Nordman, whose legendary teaching proved to be a decisive influence on her career.

Clara Izambert was born into a family of musicians and begins studying piano and harp at the age of eight. At a very young age, she was discovered by internationally renowned harpist Marielle Nordman, whose legendary teaching proved to be a decisive influence on her career.

Clara Izambert has distinguished herself as both a soloist and chamber musician, performing in prestigious venues such as the Theâtre des Champs-Elysées, Salle Gaveau, Leipzig Opera. She has taken part in numerous festivals including Menton, Deauville, Reims and has performed alongside celebrated artistes such as The Quatuor Ébène, Marielle Nordmann, flautist Anna Besson.

As principal harpist of the Balcon Ensemble since 2009, Clara is deeply involved in contemporary music, collaborating regurarly with a wide range of composers. She also performs frequently in symphonic and operatic repertoires with major French orchestras, including Orchestre de Paris ans the Paris Opera.

In addition to her performing and teaching activities, Clara devotes significant time to research, collaborating with musicologists on  historical performances practices and rediscovery of forgotten harp repertoires from the Classical and early Romantic periods.

Her discography includes Eric Lebrun and Theodore Dubois complete sacred works, the album Harp Trio with Marielle Nordmann, three albums about 18th-century repertoire with the Trio Dauphine, the Soprano Maïlys de Villoutreys (Arion/Evidence Classics/Cvs). She has appeared in the Zinstrus podcas with journalist Saskia de Ville (France Musique), as well as in numerous acclaimed symphonic recordings.

For the 2024/2025 season, she will participate in four new recordings: Mozart’s Double Concerto for Alpha Classics Label with Anna Besson, and three chamber music albums.
