Aoife Kavanagh is an Irish composer and sound designer active across a variety of music disciplines, including dance, theatre, circus, film, and concert music.

Aoife has written music for some of Ireland’s and Northern Ireland’s major theatre and dance companies, including The Abbey Theatre, Landmark Productions, Ballet Ireland, Cahoots NI, The Lir Academy and Roisin Whelan Dance. She has worked on shows that have toured nationally and internationally to the UK, USA and Australia. Aoife has assisted celebrated Irish composers including Mel Mercier, Denis Clohessy and Anna Rice, working with companies including Rough Magic, Fishamble and Once-Off Productions.

Aoife was one of two composers selected for the Contemporary Music Centre’s Emerging Composer Scheme from 2021-23. She has composed for the Irish Youth Training Choir (commissioned by Sing Ireland and CMC), the Mornington Singers, bass-baritone Kevin Neville and cellist Adrian Mantu.

Aoife has a BA in Music and German from Maynooth University and a Masters in Composition from Trinity College Dublin, and teaches piano in addition to her composition work. She is a proud member of the Irish Composer’s Collective, the Irish Society of Performance Designers and the Screen Composer’s Guild of Ireland.
