Theo Dorgan was born in Cork in 1953 and now lives in Dublin. His recent collections of poetry from Dedalus are Nine Bright Shiners (2014) and Orpheus (2018). His book Ériu and Amergin (2022), a long-form poem, was set to music by Colm Mac Con Iomaire and premiered at Kilkenny Arts Festival in 2022. Awards include the Irish Times/ Poetry Now Prize, Listowel Prize for Poetry and The O’Shaughnessy Prize for Irish Poetry. He is a member of Aosdána. His new poetry collection Once Was A Boy was published by Dedalus Press in November 2023 and it is Cork City Libraries’ One City One Book for 2024.
