Madeleine D’Arcy is a fiction writer based in Cork City. Her début short story collection, Waiting for the Bullet (Doire Press, 2014) won the Edge Hill Readers’ Choice Prize (UK, 2015). Her second collection, Liberty Terrace (Doire Press, 2021) won a FAPA President’s Prize (US, 2022) and was Cork’s One City, One Book 2023. Other awards include the Hennessy Award for First Fiction and the overall Hennessy Award for New Irish Writer. She gratefully acknowledges support from the Arts Council, Cork City Council, Culture Ireland, Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Heinrich Böll Cottage, UCC and the Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris. Along with Laura McKenna, she is the editor of Cork Stories, an anthology published by Doire Press in 2024.
