Adania Shibli was born in Palestine in 1974 and holds a PhD from the University of East London. Her first two novels have been translated into English as Touch (Clockroot Books, tr. Paula Haydar) in 2016 and We Are All Equally Far From Love (Clockroot Books, tr. Paul Starkey) in 2012. She was awarded the Young Writer’s Award by the A M Qattan Foundation in 2002 and 2004. Shibli was also named one of the Beirut39, a group of the 39 most promising Arab writers under the age of forty, selected by the Hay Festival. Since 2013 she has been teaching at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies at Birzeit University in Palestine. She lives in Berlin. Her third novel Minor Detail was translated into English by Elisabeth Jaquette and was published by Fitzcarraldo in 2020.

Elisabeth Jaquette is a translator from the Arabic and Executive Director of the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA). Her work has been nominated for the Best Translated Book Award and TA First Translation Prize, and supported by several English PEN Translates Awards, the PEN/Heim Translation Fund, and the Jan Michalski Foundation. In 2019 she served as a judge for the National Book Award in Translated Literature.
