Oonagh Hurley is a Cork based painter. She graduated from Crawford Collage of Art and Design MTU in 2009. In 2011 she had a solo show in the Upper Gallery of Wexford Arts Centre. Her work was included in ‘Portraits of a Nation’, an exhibition of work in the State Art Collection curated by the OPW in 2016. She had a solo exhibition with the Catherine Hammond Gallery in 2017. She was invited to exhibit at Boyle Arts Festival in 2018. She was an award winner at ‘Cairde Visual’ 2018 at The Model, Sligo. Her work was selected for both RHA and RUA annual exhibitions in 2019, and she was awarded a Percent for Art Commission for Cork Opera House in 2020. The artist was an invited guest speaker at the 4th Annual Athena SWAN President’s Symposium at UCC on International Women’s Day in 2021. Her work was selected for the virtual visual art exhibition curated by Therry Rudin for Birr Arts Festival 2021. She exhibited her ‘Women Unremembered’ series in a solo exhibition as part of the Cork County Council Programme in LHQ gallery in County Library in April 2022 and this series was also exhibited in Blue House Gallery Schull, Co. Cork in July 2022. The Ellen Hutchins painting of the series was purchased by UCC for the recently renamed Ellen Hutchins building in Cork. She has a forthcoming solo exhibition with Blue House Gallery in Schull in 2023. Her work is in public and private collections including OPW, MTU, Cork Opera House and UCC. She is a professional member of Visual Artists Ireland and a member of Backwater Artists Network.
