Pau Codina

Pau Codina started his cello studies at the age of 5 with Eulàlia Subirà. He is a graduate of the Yehudi Menuhin School, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, where he studied with Louise Hopkins and Gary Hoffman.

He has performed in the Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Flagey, Bozar, Pau Casals Auditorium, L’Auditori de Barcelona, and Palau de la Música Catalana Concert Hall. He recorded Saint-Saens Suite for cello and orchestra with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liege under Christian Arming. Also Robert Schumann’s Cello Concerto with Camera Musicae Orchestra under Salvador Mas. Competitions and awards include the MBF’s Guilhermina Suggia Award, the Kronberg Cello Festival Schlosskonzert Prize, third prize and Critique’s Award in the Primer Palau Competition in Barcelona and first prize in the Concurso Permanente competition of Jeunesses Musicales of Spain. He is a member of the Esbjerg Ensemble, Oculi Ensemble and Trio Fortuny.
