Rainer Zipperling

Baroque Cello

At home on all the world’s concert stages for the past thirty years, Rainer Zipperling has not only made a name for himself as a cellist, but also as a viola da gambist. He numbers among Europe’s leading continuo and chamber music specialists. As the son of a musician, Rainer Zipperling developed an interest in the cello at a very early age. He chose to study in The Hague, since it was a place where authentic performance practiced was cultivated. There he studied violoncello and viola da gamba. He was and is a member of renowned ensembles and orchestras (Camerata Köln, Orchestra of the 18th Century, Ricercar Ensemble), and has participated in over 200 CD recordings: including Telemann’s Suite for Viola da Gamba and Orchestra and Sammartini’s Concerto for Violoncello Piccolo, which were released on the deutsche harmonia mundi label.
