Entangled
is a self-explanatory piece for cello and violin
written for Alban Gerhardt and Gergana Gergova. The central idea is to demand
from the players an intimate performance due to the nature of the arrangement.
The fact that the piece is semi-tonal is of secondary importance, it just
better illustrates the entangled composition, where everything is uneven and
brittle. There are no two parts in this piece, there is just music written for
a solo-8-stringed-double-instrument.

Mathias Hinke was
born in Mexico City and studied composition and conducting in New York with
Ludmila Ulehla and Gianpaolo Bracali. He has since written music for various
orchestras and ensembles around Germany, America and Mexico and soloists such
as Alban Gerhardt. He is father of 4 and lives happily married in Berlin since
1997.
