West Cork Music – Concerts for Children & Young People
West Cork Music has been working with schools and teachers to host concerts aimed at children and young people. In November 2025, Olympia Quartet, who have been participants of the West Cork Chamber Music Festival Masterclass Programme, performed for students from Coláiste Pobailscoil Beanntraí at the Christian Fellowship Church.
In February, another Masterclass quartet, Meliora Quartet, performed at Gogginshill National School. They played a mix of classical, film and video game music, and demonstrated for the primary school children how their instruments worked.
In collaboration with Ortús Chamber Music Festival, Olympia Quartet returned to Bantry, to perform a 1 hour Children’s Concert in Marino Church, playing music ranging from Vivaldi to Hans Zimmer to Taylor Swift.
And in the final concert, a talented wind quartet from Cork School of Music, Whirlwind Quartet, demonstrated their instruments – how they work and what sounds they make – to fifty students from Coláiste Pobailscoil Beanntraí at the Christian Fellowship Church, performing a mix of solo pieces and quartet pieces.
