Condolences on the passing of Elmarie Mawe
It is with much sorrow that we have heard the news that Elmarie Mawe has passed away after a long illness.
As presenter of The Arts House on 96fm and a passionate champion of the arts, Elmarie was a much-appreciated supporter of West Cork Music for many years, always generously making time to spread the word of our three festivals to her listeners.
Francis Humphrys, Director of the West Cork Chamber Music Festival, loved his conversations with Elmarie, “One of the great pleasures of putting together the festival is being interviewed by people who love and understand the music. Elmarie was so optimistic and proactive and is a huge loss to the music and arts community.”
Her renowned warmth and enthusiasm, as well as her knowledge of all artforms, shone both in person and on the airwaves. She will be greatly missed.
