Workshop: Intensive Fiction Writing with Belinda McKeon

The Shape Of Your Story

Time and date

Monday 10 July 2023

3 days

9:30 am

2:30 pm

This workshop will run from Monday 10 to Wednesday 12 July, 9.30am to 2.30pm each day with two breaks built in to each day.

This is a workshop for writers who are at least halfway through a novel draft, or who have a short story draft they hope to submit to journals in the next six months. The focus of the workshop will be on the structure, form and design of your narrative: on the specific architecture you have created for your story, and on the work you can do to improve it. Our time together will by driven by generative writing, patterning exercises and close reading. You will receive written feedback and a suggested bibliography.

Max: 15 participants

Admission: €230

SOLD OUT

Participants are invited to submit a sample of their writing to Belinda in advance of the workshop. Please submit a maximum of 6,000 words by 1 June. Those writing novels should submit up to four chapters, as well as an outline of the novel as you currently see it. Those writing short stories should submit a single short story, with a 1-page account of how you got it to the form it is in today. (The latter applies whether you have written it over the course of many months or just wrote it for this workshop.)
