Orsino consists of five star wind soloists led by Adam Walker with Nicholas Daniel, Alec Frank-Gemmill, Matthew Hunt and special guest Bram van Sambeek. Barber’s Summer Music does exactly what it says on the tin, gently flowing joyous music. Francaix wrote his Wind Quartet when only 22 for a Conservatoire ensemble whose horn player was never quite sure what sound would emerge from his instrument, so he discreetly excluded him. The Nielsen Quintet is remarkable for its rare sense of happiness and joy in its uninhibited music-making.
