Baerbel Bellinghausen

Instruments: Makers | Violin Makers

Baerbel Bellinghausen is devoted to sound: string instruments have been part of her life ever since her youth. She is thrilled to build new violins, violas, and cellos in Vienna, a city full of inspiring music, handcraft, and art. For Baerbel, the violin is the musician’s tool. Apart from displaying beauty and fine craftsmanship, string instruments should serve musicians in the performance of their art. When Baerbel is not busy in her workshop, she goes fishing with her son or relaxes on the couch with her cat.

In 2020 she launched the ViolinCocoon Vienna label, which designs fine textile covers for string instruments, fairly and sustainably fabricated in Vienna. Baerbel devotes at least the same amount of passion to this activity as to violin making. No wonder that she finds every day too short!
