Seán Morgan-Rooney

Seán Morgan-Rooney comes from Mayobridge in County Down. As a soloist, Seán has appeared with several major Irish orchestras, including the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra. He recently made his recital début in the Kleine Zaal of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, performing Liszt’s Sonata in B minor. Seán studied with John O’Conor at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, studying concurrently with Colma Brioscú and Peter Tuite. He completed his Bachelor’s with Professor Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music in London and later his Master’s with David Kuyken at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He was subsequently the first student to receive an Artist Certificate from this institution. Seán was the recipient of the Charles J. Brennan Prize at the 10th Dublin International Piano Competition. This year he is one of four laureates of the prestigious “Dutch Classical Talent” award.
