EVK, founded in Cologne in 2009 as a period instrument ensemble, concertizes internationally and has been presented by various German radio stations (SWR, HR and WDR) and record labels (BIS, Naxos, Eigenart). Special projects include the Rosary Sonatas of H.I.F. Biber, the complete Violin Sonatas by G.F. Handel, a staged version of Bach’s Cantata “Christ Lag in Todesbanden” and his “Musical Offering.” The musicians bring together decades of experience with historical experts and renowned ensembles. Violinist Ariadne Daskalakis pursues a unique career on both modern and baroque violin, celebrating the gamut of the violin repertoire. Rainer Zipperling is sought after equally as cellist and gambist by ensembles including the English Baroque Soloists and the Bach Collegium Japan. Andreas Nachtsheim specializes in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire and appears with the Lautten Compagney Berlin as well as many baroque opera theatre productions. Michael Borgstede plays harpsichord, fortepiano and organ, appearing regularly as soloist and with the Ensemble Musica Ad Rhenum.
