Ruth Padel is a poet, classical musician and conservationist, Professor of Poetry at King’s College London and Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She has published twelve poetry collections, most recently Beethoven Variations, which draws on five years’ work with the Endellion String Quartet. Her book of poetry and prose on migration will come out in paperback, retitled we are all from somewhere else, updated to include her work with a Syrian artist on refugees in the island of Lesbos. She was first Resident writer at Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and the first money she ever earned was £5 playing viola in Westminster Abbey. She was Chair of Judges for the 2016 T. S. Eliot Prize and Judge for the 2016 International Man Booker Prize. Beethoven Variations was published by Chatto & Windus in January 2020. www.ruthpadel.com
