Emmanuel Carlier began his bow-making apprenticeship in 2005. Two years later, he joined Pierre Guillaume in Brussels with whom he developed his taste for old bows. In 2010, back to Paris he focused on his own bows. In 2013/2014, he did a residence at Villa Medici, the french academy in Roma. Many of his bows are now played in major orchestras around the world. Emmanuel was awarded the “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” 2019, 4 gold medals by the Violin Society of America in 2016 and 2012, Best Playing Viola Bow, Darling Bow Making Competition in Amsterdam 2016, and Gold and Silver medals at the International Violin and Bow Making Competition in Mittenwald 2010.
