Leeanne O’Donnell
Leeanne O’ Donnell is a writer and podcaster who lives on the foothills of Mount Gabriel in west Cork. Her first novel Sparks of Bright Matter was inspired by the magic of the mountain and the whispers of the ancient stories buried in the surrounding landscape. Published by Eriu/Bonnier UK in April 2024 it was described by the Irish Times as ‘Exquisitely deep, beautiful and metaphysical as it is fast-paced and brilliantly plotted.’ and by The Sunday Times as ‘A debut novel of great imagination.’
Leeanne started her storytelling career working in radio with RTE and BBC – and has made a number of award winning documentaries for RTE’s Doc on One series. She produces and presents Into The Mythic – a podcast about Irish mythology that brings new life to our ancient stories and explores what wisdom and relevance they might have for us now. She is currently working on her experimental second novel which sees the ordinary lives of its characters turned upside down by the interference of a pair of potent Divine sisters.
