Club Chléire Cape Clear
Club Chleire, situated above the shop in North Harbour, is a popular destination for visiting musicians, and impromptu music sessions occur regularly during the summer months.
It is located on Cape Clear – Oileán Chléire – a Gaeltacht island, which means that Irish is the primary language used there in everyday life. Cape Clear is one of seven inhabited islands along the the southwest Cork coastline.
West Cork Music hosts occasional events there as part of the West Cork Chamber Music Fringe programme. These events are supported by Creative Places West Cork Islands, a project that encourages the active participation of islanders in the arts, as creatives, audiences, and communities.
Cape Clear Ferries depart from Baltimore and Schull. Schull is the nearest departure point from Bantry (about 25 minutes’ drive away). You must pay separately for your ferry ticket.
The ferry trip out to Cape Clear takes about 25 minutes on the “Fast Ferry”. The comfortable ferry has capacity for 90 passengers. It features airline-style seating, large saloon windows and air conditioning. And there is a large viewing deck, so you can take in great views and watch out for marine wildlife.
The trip to the island to your festival event is part of the experience!
