The best thing I have ever written in my life is how Mozart described this miraculous Quintet. Mozart’s instinctive understanding of wind instruments enabled him to create this perfectly balanced work for a hitherto unknown instrumental combination. Three Tributes is a set of pieces by Bushra El Turk that take the form of three portraits of Levantine female singers who lived during the Nahda period, a cultural renaissance in the Arabic speaking world that took place between the mid-19th century and the early 20th century. It was written for the Dudok Quartet on a return visit to Bantry. After the interval three members of the outstanding Pavel Haas Quartet are joined by the star pianist, Boris Giltburg, for Brahms’ luxurious A major Piano Quartet. It is a big piece in his early style where he allowed his big melodies to breathe.

Admission: €38/26/12
