47. Crespo Series

There is a change of programme for this recital, Anastasia Kobekina will play the 4th and 5th Suites instead of the advertised programme. Later in the Festival she will join the Chiaroscuros for the Schubert Quintet (Event 64) so she will play these two Bach Suites on gut strings. These glorious works have a hypnotic effect on modern cellists and audiences alike. A set of archaic courtly dances over 300 years old seems an unlikely obsession for our speed-driven age but their grip on our taste is unwavering.
