Student Discoveries
Cork ETB School of Music is Ireland’s largest multi-campus music school, offering instrumental tuition in Classical and Traditional Irish music, alongside a vibrant range of orchestras, ensembles, choirs, bands and chamber music.
An inclusive and community-focused organisation, the school partners with 42 centres across Cork, providing high-quality social, cultural, artistic and educational experiences that encourage young people to achieve their full potential. At its heart are 60 dedicated teaching staff who inspire students and promote music as a life-enhancing skill that extends beyond performance. The school is further supported by committed parents and guardians who play a vital role in its vision.
The Chamber Music Project enables students of similar age and standard across centres to experience the rewards of small ensemble playing. The programme has presented performances at venues including Feis Maitíú, Tracton Arts Centre, Hayfield Manor, St Peter’s Church, St Finbarr’s Cathedral, Bandon Town Hall and MTU Cork School of Music. In 2023, students also performed in the Great Hall at Stormont as part of a Connections Tour with Athenry Music School and Dalriada Grammar School.
As Education Partner of the Ortús Chamber Music Festival, students benefit annually from masterclasses and performances with acclaimed musicians. The programme also offers valuable ensemble opportunities for piano students alongside their solo studies.
For each West Cork Chamber Music Festival they prepare a wide-ranging programme to showcase their abilities under the direction of Conor O’Connell.
YOUNG MUSICIANS SERIES Featuring the ensembles participating in the West Cork Chamber Music Masterclass Programme, this series takes place most afternoons at 2pm. Lasting only an hour, these concerts are perfect for young people.
