Join us for a compelling panel discussion, marking the centenary of Cork University Press, the publishing arm of University College Cork. This event delves into themes explored in The Coastal Atlas of Ireland (2021); featuring perspectives from experts deeply engaged in Ireland’s coastal and marine affairs.

Cork University Press, the oldest University Press in Ireland and a trailblazer in the field of Irish Studies, is at the forefront of publishing landmark works that explore Ireland’s landscapes, environments, and the natural world. For 100 years, the Press has championed rigorous and distinctive scholarship to enrich our understanding of Ireland’s cultural and natural heritage.

The distinguished panel, led by Professor Robert Devoy, Emeritus Professor of Geography at University College Cork and a renowned expert in coastal science and climate change includes Eoghan Daltun, author of the award-winning An Irish Atlantic Rainforest; Dr. Connie Kelleher, State Underwater Archaeologist and author of An Alliance of Pirates; Kieran McCarthy, Independent councillor and prolific author on Cork’s heritage; and Anna Ryan Moloney, Lecturer at the University of Limerick and author of Where Land Meets Sea: Coastal explorations of landscape, representation and spatial experience.

Following on from the acclaimed documentary series Ireland’s Coast, broadcast by RTÉ in 2024 and inspired by The Coastal Atlas of Ireland, delve further into Ireland’s coastal biodiversity and history and the pressing issues we face.
