Milly McCarthy is a Complete Catastrophe is the first instalment in an exciting new middle-grade series written by Cork author Leona Forde and illustrated by Karen Harte. Milly McCarthy is a ten-year-old girl from Cork – fun-loving, excitable and full of ideas that she simply has to try. Sure, what could possibly go wrong?!
Milly’s Rebel pride and infectious energy bubble over every page – and where Milly goes, an accidental trail of chaos is sure to follow! Sprinkled with cúpla focail and references to iconic Irish favourites, young readers will find a friend in this calamitous Cork cailín.
Milly’s class have won an All-Ireland Climate Action competition and are in with a chance of earning a coveted Green Flag, making their usually disgruntled principal very happy. Their prize is a trip to Fota Wildlife Park and everyone’s buzzing. But from the moment Milly and her friends arrive, calamity ensues – and of course Milly is totally not to blame for the butterfly breakout, the giraffe drama or the unfortunate incident on Monkey Island… Could the school lose their Green Flag before it even arrives?
