A Fix of Light is trans love story with a dark magical twist, from Cork author Kel Menton, an astonishing new Irish voice in YA fiction. This powerful and moving novel seamlessly blends queer romance and fantasy. It’s a story. that champions hope and the possibility of surviving trauma to build a life worth living, with protagonists that destigmatise trans experience.
‘A Fix of Light will break your heart and heal it all over again.’ Clara Kumagai, author of Catfish Rolling
Age: YA (and also loved by adults)
Hanan is supposed to be dead. The forest outside Skenashogue sent him home alive – but changed. A strange new magic makes every emotion a physical force he can’t control. Bright and gentle, fox-like Pax is everything Hanan is not. Only his touch can mute the power, quiet the curse. Secrets give power to the darkness. For their love to survive, the boys will have to open their hearts.
