This concert features five composers who were active in London at the turn to the 18th Century. Nicola Matteis was a violinist-composer from Naples who made his home in London and is credited with changing English taste from French to Italian styles. His ‘La Follia’ Variations will close the concert. John Eccles, Daniel Purcell (brother of Henry Purcell) and William Croft were all English composers working in London at that time. Johann Christoph Pepusch was born in Berlin but spent his working life in London
