Mick O’Callaghan
Mick O’Callaghan is a local singer-songwriter, musician, and performer from the village of Schull. Growing up on a small farm, his love of the natural world was embedded in his blood from a young age. Mick left school aged just fourteen and worked as a gardener, a fisherman, and a stone mason. As his understanding of land and sea deepened, so did his longing to give his West Cork home a voice.
A regular on the West Cork music circuit, Mick has been playing both solo and as part of various bands for over twenty-five years. He has played as a guest with Dogtail Soup and Interference, and covered Colin Vearncombe’s ‘The Wishing’ as part of the Love Colin project.
Mick’s debut album, Wrapped Up (Nero Schwarz, 2023) is a moving tribute to the West Cork landscape and its people.
