Join us in Bantry for Culture Night 2026 on the evening of 18th September and enjoy free concerts and readings that explore the theme of striving to improve.
Follow a vibrant culture trail across Bantry to find events and performances that weave in music, literature and conversation inspired by the idea of striving to improve creatively…
The teenage musicians from Bantry’s Curious Keys Music School will take part in an open mic style performance, showcasing their improvement as musicians, singers and songwriters, since they began learning their instruments.
The trail takes in a reading by West Cork-based American novelist R.P. O’Donnell at Bantry Bookshop. The former winner of West Cork Literary Festival’s JG Farrell prize will be in conversation about his acclaimed first novel No Comfort for the Dead, “a complex and accomplished whodunit”.
Then make your way to St. Brendan’s Church where West Cork Music will showcase the Meliora Quartet. Founded at MTU Cork School of Music, the ensemble takes its name from the Latin word for ‘improvement’ – you’ll quickly understand why that philosophy has quickly made them favourites with Bantry’s summer festival audiences!
