Join Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin to learn about and practice the Irish tradition of lilting. Lilting is a traditional form of vocal music where singers use rhythmic, melodic sounds to imitate the tunes of dance music, such as jigs, reels, and hornpipes. It was often used at gatherings when instruments weren’t available or affordable, to accompany dancers and keep the music going when fiddles and flutes weren’t there.
