Formed in 2018, the Hill Quartet hold the prestigious Royal Academy of Music Chamber Fellowship for the year 2020-21 and have been awarded the Sir John Barbirolli and the Alexander Kelly Memorial prizes by the Academy in recognition of their chamber achievements. As part of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Program, they are awarded a chamber music residency at Snape Maltings in the spring of 2021. They are mentored by John Myerscough, cellist of the Doric String Quartet. The quartet have enjoyed recent recitals at the Marylebone, Barnes and Petworth Chamber Music Festivals and given performances at St Martin-in-the-Fields, St James’s Piccadilly Church and Hatfield House. Their recent performance at the Bandstand Chamber Festival was praised in a five star review from The Arts Desk as a “fluid and refined interpretation” of Ravel’s quartet.
