Susanne Schmid

Grown up in a musicians family, Susanne Schmid began her musical education at the age of 4. She was member oft the national german youth orchestra and won several first prices in the national youth competition „Jugend musiziert“. In 2004 she started her studies at the conservatory Hanns Eisler in Berlin with professor Marie-Luise Neunecker. During her studies she was academist for one year in the Symphonie Orchestra in Göttingen and took part twice in the international festival academy in Santander (Spain). An Erasmus exchange led her to follow studies with professor Bruno Schneider during one year in Geneva.
Susanne Schmid always had an outstanding passion for chamber music playing. After her diploma she dedicated her carrier during 3 years exclusively to chamber music playing by integrating the wind quintet Le Concert impromptu in Paris. With this group she was playing up to 80 concerts per year, international tours guided her to numerous african countries, Portugal, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany...The repertory had a wide range from baroque music to contempory creations and had a special focus on interdisciplinary projects, that made her work with many artists from different sectors such as actors, stage designers, dancers etc.
Since november 2015, she works as a freelance musician and is playing as a substitute in orchestras like La Monnaie in Bruxelles, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre National d´Ile-de-France, Orchestre Régional Avignon-Provence, Orchestre du Capitole Toulouse etc.
In 2015 she founded a crossing arts festival for children in Germany  (Junges Mindelfestival), where she assumes the artistic direction as well as artistic and pedagogical tasks.
