Holger Falk
Holger Falk began singing as a boy with the famous Regensburg Cathedral Boy's Choir followed by voice studies at the Würzburg Conservatory, in Milano with Prof. Sigune von Osten, Franco Corelli and with Neil Semer, among others.
His Opera engagements have taken him to the Theatre de la Monnaie Brussels, Theatre Champs Elysées Paris, Teatro Real Madrid, Bavarian State Opera Munich, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Theater an der Wien, National Opera Warsaw, Oper Frankfurt, Boston Early Music Festival, and to numerous German opera houses. He has worked with outstanding conductors, such as Christopher Hogwood, Gabriel Garrido, Franck Ollu, Konrad Junghänel and Stephen Stubbs.
Along with roles from the baroque and standard repertoire, Holger has devoted himself to contemporary opera, where he has sung leading roles in the world premieres of operas written by Peter Eötvös ("The Golden Dragon" at Oper Frankfurt, "Paradise reloaded" at Mupa Budapest), Miroslav Srnka ("Make No Noise" at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich), Benoit Mernier ("Frühlings Erwachen" at La Monnaie Brussels), Michael Wertmüller (weine nicht, singe!" at Hamburgische Staatsoper) as well as worldpremieres by Steffen Schleiermacher (Kokain), Jan Müller-Wieland (Die Irre), Hans Gefors (Schattenspiele) and Vladimir Tarnopolski (Jenseits der Schatten). In the last three years he also sung the leading roles in works of Wolfgang Rihm - Jakob Lenz at National Opera Warsaw and Dionysos at Theater Heidelberg with a nomination for "Best Performance 2013" by OPERNWELT, while Gerard Mortier invited him to sing Cortez in "Eroberung von Mexiko" at Teatro Real Madrid. Holger works with contemporary orchestras like Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Kontraste, Ensemble Avantgarde and Musikfabrik NRW as well as with Baroque-Ensembles like Elyma (Monteverdi "Orfeo" at Opera de Lausanne and Rheingau Musikfestival), Elbipolis Hamburg (Graupners "Dido" at Konzerthaus Berlin) and Concerto Köln (Hasse "Leucippo" at Schwetzinger Festspiele).
