Armel Descotte

Armel Descotte has been the oboe soloist with the Marseille Opera Orchestra since 2006, and was recruited in January 2017 by Riccardo Chailly as Solo Oboe of the Scala Orchestra of Milan. He was also appointed professor at the superior centre of Aix-en-Provence in February 2017.  Armel studied the oboe and chamber-music with Daniel Arrignon, Jacques Tys and Maurice Bourgue at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris.  With the support of the Singer-Polignac Foundation in Paris he has been invited to numerous chamber music festivals.  As member of the wind-ensemble INITIUM he has recorded several complete chamber music works for woodwind. At the Young Prague International Music Festival, Descotte performs with the Prague Chamber Orchestra and is frequently requested to perform alongside prestigious international orchestras. Armel Descotte plays Marigaux M2 oboe.
